The discontinuous availability of sunlight and wind energy requires the storage of excessive energy in form of fuels or of electricity in rechargeable batteries. However, the generation and storage of solar hydrogen or methanol, its conversion to electricity in fuel cells and the storage of electricity in batteries demand the development of novel, cheap and abundant materials for catalysts, electrodes and for storage media associated with high efficiencies of their devices. Therefore, the symposium addresses the following topics:-          Novel strategies and synthesis routes for catalysts, electrodes and storage materials-          Structural and chemical description of the materials (bulk and surface)-          Structure – function relationship-          Elucidation of the catalytic properties and storage mechanisms by in-situ techniques
