The recent Metamaterials topic has known a huge interest from scientists the last ten years. These structured artificial composite materials have both excited the imagination by their promises of breakthrough applications and raised numerous fundamental questions. The most popular applications are the so-called perfect lenses and invisibility but the general aim of Metamaterials is to get a full control of waves. Recently, important progresses have been made concerning realization, understanding and characterization of these structures. Amazingly, the optical wavelength regime seems now possible and the topic tends to have many intersections with plasmonics. This symposium will encompass theoretical, technological and experimental recent advances concerning Metamaterials in the optical regime and contributions concerning all aspects are invited.
